COEUR d'ALENE - The Restoration Partnership has extended its public input process on the development of a restoration plan for the Coeur d'Alene Basin.

The input process which began June 13, has been extended by another 15 days until Aug. 27.

"The public has been very effective in helping us identify issues and sharing their values with us. Scoping is an important part of the planning process and we want as much opportunity for public participation as we can. This extension will help us do that," said Chip Corsi, IDFG regional supervisor and representative for the state of Idaho.

The Restoration Partnership was formed through a joint effort led by the Coeur d'Alene Basin Natural Resource Trustees, which is comprised of federal and state agencies.

They are in the scoping phase of the restoration planning process.

"We've had considerable interest by the public and we want to ensure there is ample time to provide input," Corsi said.

In addition to the scoping deadline extension, the Restoration Partnership will also be participating in a natural resource restoration forum hosted by the Shoshone Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 20 at Noah's Loft Conference Center in Kellogg from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

"We truly have seen an increased interest from people wanting to take part in this public involvement process," said Phillip Cernera, the Tribe's representative in the Restoration Partnership. "Having Shoshone County give us time at this forum will give these individuals that opportunity."
