The North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking information leading to the apprehension of James Hiram Kountz.

Kountz, 56, is being sought based on a Kootenai County felony warrant charging Kountz with aggravated battery as a result of a recent stabbing in Coeur d’Alene. This is a $100,000 bond warrant with United States extradition.

Kountz is a white male, 5 foot 6 inches tall, 185 pounds with hazel eyes and gray hair. Kountz was last known to be living in the Coeur d’Alene and Hayden areas.

Anyone with information regarding this subject or other fugitives being sought for violent crimes should call the NIVCTF at 208-665-4455. The identities of callers will remain confidential and reward money is available.

    IDAHO GUY,

We hire law enforcement officers, to locate dangerous criminals. Our tax dollars pay their wages and their medical bills should they be harmed in the process. These people are actually trained, and know the law.

Can you imagine citizens such as yourself, hungry for money, tracking down dangerous suspects? Why, they would be tresspassing, assaulting, breaking into private property to complete their "mi$$ion." My guess is the citizen vigilantes would also end up in jail or prison, pretending to be law enforcement.

Do you really believe it wise to offer a reward of sorts, for any citizen to hunt down presumed dangerous people? THINK! THINK! THINK! Absurd at best.

But, if you still think you are a star, a natural born bounty hunter, then your opportunity is right here on the Coeur d'Alene Press. Law enforcement are offering a REWARD for a FORGER. Find the article. Then visit wherever offers the reward and you'll have plenty to do. Or is it, you just want to hunt down dangerous people to be a HERO?

    Here's your chance! Kaching! $$$

    Joseph,

I also fail to see your point. I am not calling for a lynching if found. Or no trial....I am asking if the citizens like me can create a public fund to be drawn from as a reward for the capture of said continually released scum bags? It would go to pay any US Citizen bounty hunter who captures one of these people for their effort and success. Call it citizens arrest if you wish to. You have a legal constitutional problem with that? I sure hope not as the LE has been given huge amounts of money and equipment yet can not seem to find people like this living right here in town? Or in the deep wild woods of 95&Wilbur. It is scary and dangerous in there with all kinds of wild animals, dragons and creatures of the night...you know.

Of course the job could be dangerous because many of the scum bags are illegally armed, on drugs and this last guy knifed someone who is now in the hospital with bill he will never pay so again we all get to cover it. You best bet your buttt we will be charged more next time wee honest people go there for assistance.

If during said search for these scum bags by honest citizens they come under attack from the scum bag in question they of course have the constitutional right to defend themselves using whatever means is at hand. If the scum bags just give up all nicely like they can then be turned over to the nearest cop at the doughnut shop, or coffee house, or speed trap, or if they are investigating a crime after it happened. They don't look hard for them in the bushes where the bad guys are hiding because it is to scary for them to go in there. But I bet some bear hunters who have gone up against some big bears face to face would go into those bushes... especially if a several thousand dollar reward was in place.

If word spread around the transient camps all over the place their wanted by LE faces were being published and armed citizens are out in the brush tracking them down I bet these scum bags would at least relocate to the woods in Spokane where they are not being tracked down. Problem is now more solved.

I will gladly through down 100.00 bucks in this reward pool and if it works I bet the banks would love to have the account the US Citizen are funding around here to round up these criminals. I have no doubt the unemployed honest good hunters would step up to form teams to go search the deeper, thicker, scarier woods nearby. After all it is a hundred yards from the safety of any patrol car with radios to call for massive back up..... and one can still hear the highway nearby.

Unlike hunting alone way out in the real woods where no one is nearby, no roads, no back up, no traffic noises ... just the sounds of heavy breathing and growling in the bushes. This constant patrolling will drive the the transient scum bags away because their comfort fornication zones are being disturbed. Now rather than you saying this is going back 200 years how about you say we are advancing because we are getting better results without raising taxes, hiring more cops and buying more cop cars to patrol the streets where the bad guy do not go. They still get a trial as well...win win win ;-)

    IDAHO GUY...............Read what you wrote.

I am pretty darn conservative, but I gotta' tell yah', your posts are disturbing.

Our forefather's (think Constitution), created a document, contrary to laws in most other lands.

In the 1600's we had the Salem Witch Trials.

In the 1700's, our forfather's recognized the laws of England were unjust, and provided for individuals accused of crimes, a jury by their peers. (Hint: Constitution)

In the 1800's, vigilante's proudly murdered hundreds if not thousands of men and women, lawlessly.

In the 1900's, our nation began a civil rights movement to stop the barbaric treatment of others, including murdering people who were different than the majority. Today, our nation suffers with the anger of generational hatred.

Today in 2012, you (IDAHO GUY) want to take our nation back 200 years.,.

I am not a fan of our justice system, but I do respect it enough to allow it to run its course.

If you feel you have the answers, please do go to college and become an attorney, and change the laws.

If the idea of being a self made vigilante empowers you, then you are just as much of a threat to society, as the person who stabbed this fellow is.

P.S. They just gave a retired firefighter a 40 year sentence in Texas, for "Stand your ground." Yeah, he killed his neighbor.

Change your thinking, before you do something you will regret for the rest of your life. Going around half cocked, just waiting for an opportunity to prove what a tough guy you are, will get you in trouble.

OK wait a minute here. He was found in the same wooded area behind Target that he did the stabbing? With the CDA Blue looking for him and police helicopters circling overhead for an hour? Seriously, this is a 1 square mile area surrounded by businesses and the cops couldn't find him for nearly 40 hours?

    Great police work CDA

Please let some of us honest folks help the unemployed here. Let us set up a reward for non LE officials to collect for the capture of these scum bags, to collect if they bring them in D or A. Dead because the bounty hunter felt threatened and he/she feared for their life and wasted the scum bag. Alive if the scum bag wet their pants, drop to their knees and lace their fingers behind their neck.

It is time for us common folks to do the job and do it right.
