BOISE (AP) — Idaho is introducing a series of laws with the start of a new month.

The debuting legislation includes a ban on sales of electronic cigarettes to minors and a law that makes texting behind the wheel an infraction that will set violators back $85. Idaho is now the 37th state to enact a texting-while-driving ban.

Other new state laws aim to protect youth athletes from concussions and put felony animal cruelty penalties on Idaho's books for the first time. Another law requires massage therapists to obtain a license and aims to help regulate the industry.

The measures were approved by the 2012 Idaho Legislature and took effect Sunday, which also marked the start of a new fiscal year.

Why is this new txting law necessary? What's wrong with inattentive driving/distracted driving/reckless driving...???

Are there so many minors buying e-cigarettes that a new law is needed?? Is this really gonna make any difference other than insert more minors into the legal system for a minor offense of this nature? Aren't our courts already crowded?

    FCOL...we're turning into WA !

Once the costs for massage therapists increase by this licensing law, be ready to pay more for your future massage therapy won't increase anything but the costs to the consumer and the practitioner BUT it will make more profits for the few MT schools who now have the monopoly on the pathway to that career.
Doesn't regulation make everything better?? LOL

I've very recently noticed a lot of drivers coming through early red lights. It's getting like the rest of the country here. When the light turns green for you and you're first in line be careful.

Don't worry folks, in Coeur d'Alene police don't even give out tickets for speeding or blowing stop signs.
