FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson of the Salt Lake City Division has announced a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Mitchell Lee Walck. On Dec. 3, the FBI Salt Lake City Division, working with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, obtained an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant for Walck.

FBI Special Agents have been assisting the Post Falls Police Department and the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office in the search for Walck. Walck is wanted for allegedly shooting at an Idaho State Police trooper during an attempted traffic stop on Saturday. The trooper was not injured and Walck fled the area on foot. Later that day, Walck allegedly kidnapped an adult female at gunpoint from her residence in Rathdrum and released her unharmed in Glendive, Mont. The State of Idaho has issued a warrant for his arrest for kidnapping.

Walck is described as a 57-year-old white male, 5’10”, 175 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. However, Walck recently changed his appearance and was last seen with dyed black hair and a dyed black mustache. He may be driving a 2005 silver Subaru Forester with Idaho plate K230050. He has been known to stop at campgrounds and churches for shelter.

Walck is considered armed and dangerous and the public is advised not to contact him and instead call the FBI Salt Lake City Division at (801) 579-1400, email tips to saltlakecity@ic.fbi.gov, or contact the nearest law enforcement agency.

Wapiti, you are so very right and so very wrong. There is an Idaho state warrant for his arrest with a million dollar bond. The UFAP is only issued after a state warrant is issued. It's main purpose is to give federal law enforcement the right to arrest him. Please stop bashing law enforcement until you know what you are talking about.

A warrant to avoid prosecution!!!! What happened to a kidnapping charge. I thought kidnapping was a capital offense. He took her across State lines. What is with law enforcement anymore. Didn't he steal two vehicles? Didn't he attempt to kill a police officer? This sounds like a joke.

I want to know why a "DEAD or ALIVE" poster offer is not out there? With today's job market tanking daily us hunters could feed our families with scum like this tied face down on the hood of our Jeep heading back to FBI central to collect the reward. Dead of course... cause one need not tie down a dead guy so well... plus a dead scum bag is easier to get to stay still on the hood while I tie them down .

If anyone should get the $20k it should be the kidnapped woman. Riding all the way to Glendive with a whacko wondering if every turn of a wheel would be your last should be worth something. But then all the FBI cares about is law enforcement - right?
