Applications for the 2012 Press Christmas for All charity program are now available.

Kootenai County residents who are in need and wish to participate can fill out applications online or in person.

Visit christmasforallcda.com to complete an online application.

Applications can be completed in person between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at two locations:

* Coeur d'Alene Press, 201 N. Second St., Coeur d'Alene

* Post Falls City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St., Post Falls

Applications are limited to one per family per household. The deadline to turn them in is 5 p.m. Dec. 4. No late applications will be accepted.

This is the 27th annual Press Christmas for All campaign.

Each year, the holiday charity program collects monetary donations and distributes them in the form of gift cards to Kootenai County residents who have applied for a little help making the holiday season brighter.

This year's gift card distribution will take place Dec. 13 and 14 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at 5271 E. Seltice Way, Post Falls. Applicants must be present and bring photo identification.

Press Christmas for All is managed by The Hagadone Corp., with assistance from Kootenai County Fire & Rescue. It is a legally recognized 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, run entirely by volunteers at The Hagadone Corp., the Coeur d'Alene Press and Kootenai County Fire & Rescue.

Every penny raised is distributed to needy Kootenai County residents. All overhead costs are covered by The Hagadone Corp. and the volunteers at Kootenai County Fire & Rescue.

Readers of this newspaper dug deep into their pockets in 2011 and generously donated $190,130. Hundreds of givers provided the means for food and gifts to 9,430 Kootenai County residents who asked for help celebrating the spirit of the season.

Each year, the recipients - the working poor, some homeless, many jobless or disabled - feel the compassion of a caring community during what can be a very difficult time of year for them. Many are alone during the holiday season.

With your help, we can do it again this year.

Donations can be made securely online at christmasforallcda.com or by dropping off or mailing a check to:
