A fundraiser and awareness event to benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual assault will be held April 25 and 26 in Coeur d'Alene.
"V-Day: A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer," will take place each night from 6-10 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 209 E. Sherman Ave.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the North Idaho Violence Prevention Center.
The nonprofit center operates solely on grants and donations. It provides free support and services to victims of violence. That includes counseling, advocacy, shelter and teen outreach.
The center received 1,555 hotline calls in 2013, and 102 of those were sexual assaults, 46 of them against children.
The upcoming fundraiser will include a performance each night of the latest work by Eve Ensler, an activist and playwright who in 1994 created the "Vagina Monologues," a successful fundraising show that ran off-Broadway for five years.
In 2011, a Coeur d'Alene production of "The Vagina Monologues" raised $13,000 for the local violence prevention center.
V-Day organizers say they can raise $7,800 each night for the center, if the house is filled. The event will feature a live and silent auction also.
