COEUR d'ALENE - Two Best Avenue businesses and one on Appleway recently reported burglaries.

According to police reports, a coffee stand, restaurant supply store and tattoo shop were broken into during the last week.

Police said someone broke the door to enter the coffee stand late Wednesday or early Thursday and then smashed open the cash register valued at $600.

An employee told police she believed a customer who visited the stand several times Wednesday could be responsible.

The "male made her feel uncomfortable with the way he kept hanging around the business," the report said.

"She thought the body language of the male was odd," the police report said.

A tattoo gun inside a black sack was found just outside the stand.

A tattoo shop on Appleway reported someone entered the business late Saturday or early Sunday and took 10 tattoo machines valued at $150 to $450 each, and also took three framed Star Wars posters and jewelry. There was no sign of forced entry.

The total value of items reported missing was $3,000.

According to another police report, someone pried open the door over the weekend to enter the restaurant supply store on Best Avenue, near the burglarized coffee stand.

The suspect took about $525 and some Slim Fast bars.

A jacket and a screwdriver were left on the ground outside the broken door.

Investigations into the burglaries continue.

Redneck, you know where I live? Well, apparently you have no clue, because it too is my neighborhood. The great thing about where we live is if you don't like it you have the freedom to move. PS, I used to live in a swanky neighborhood, not near a facility that helps the needy, and my car was rifled through, my yard urinated on, domestic arguements in the middle of the night, breaking windows...it happens everywhere. Maybe you can flag down one of the police officers that constantly patrol our area and voice your concerns.

    peanut butter,
Thank you for the lesson on human morality but let me remind you of one thing. This is my neighborhood, not yours. How would you like to see drug addicts, homeless in large groups of up to 40 walking down your street? How would you like to have someone urinating in your front yard next to your car? Or have someone sleeping in your bushes waiting for the program to open. As for the crime maps, they are NOT accurate. Have the thefts are small things and inexpensive and not reported. Half the time we do not even realize someone was in our car until we notice the center box open or look for the missing item.

Redneck, before you make unfounded comments about the needy, it might be a good idea to pull up the CDA Police dept. crime map to better sustantiant your assumptions. Take a looky loo, it lists all reported crimes in CDA, and you will notice your statements are unjustified. PS, I am a professional, work in a professional capacity, but unfortunately had fallen on hard times myself as a direct result of the economy. I had to rely on state assistance for a brief period, though never had to seek help from churches etc., so don't judge, not all people in need are lowlifes.

Having worked with a church feeding poor people - in the past and currently - this is simply a mean spirited lie. Let me guess, you don't want to pay taxes to help these folks and now you want to stop the churches from doing it.

Guess you're ok with innocent people starving, so long as it doesn't inconvenience your life? You're a bad person and you should feel bad.

I have an idea...tell the church on best that feeds all these low lifes to stop feeding them. Ever since this church started their program our neighborhood has been dealing with more crime, thefts and stupidity. Also, ask them to stop having their food program start at 3:30 when the elementary children are walking home. We already see the people they are attracting.

i have a great idea......when you close your business's at the end of the day, lock up your tools and remove any money....who leaves money in a cash register overnite...."mcFly, anyone home"...if they catch these fools i'll place bets they have a criminal history or are out on "probation" from other crimes...the laws here need to change and more punishment given to re offenders, not a slap on the hand and credit for time served....
