COEUR d'ALENE - North Idaho Republican political campaign worker Linda Cook says she is "almostinnocentbystander," the anonymous online commenter on the Spokesman-Review website who allegedly defamed Kootenai County Republican leader Tina Jacobson.

Cook worked in North Idaho on the Vaughn Ward campaign for Congress two years ago, a bid that fell short against current U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador. Ward said Cook was a campaign worker for him for nine months, but he declined further comment.

Cook, 55, of Rathdrum, also has worked on campaigns for former Idaho state Sen. Mike Jorgenson, current Idaho state Rep. Kathleen Sims, and was a congressional aide for late U.S. Rep. Helen Chenoweth-Hage of Idaho. All are Republicans.

A judge in 1st District Court earlier this month ruled the Spokesman-Review must give Jacobson and her attorney information that could lead to the identity of almostinnocentbystander.

The newspaper won't appeal Judge John Luster's recent order.

Spokesman-Review editor Gary Graham said in an email Monday, "Our attorneys advised us that it was highly unlikely that an appeal would have been successful in Idaho."

An attorney for the Spokesman-Review, Joel Hazel, declined Monday to confirm that Cook is almostinnocentbystander.

The commenter posed a question in February under a Huckleberries Online blog post suggesting $10,000 reportedly missing from the county's Republican central committee might be "stuffed inside Tina's blouse??? Let's not try to find out."

On Monday Cook told The Press, "I'm a person of conviction and I'm not afraid to speak out. On the other hand, I have a life so I don't like the spotlight."

Cook came forward Monday to the Coeur d'Alene Press, saying, "It's a little bit of a firestorm right now." Cook said she currently is going to school.

"(Cook) was a very, very good worker," said Sims. "She's knowledgeable about campaigns."

Sims said Cook worked on her 2010 campaign as a volunteer. She would definitely have her back, Sims said.

Jacobson didn't return a call seeking comment.

Matt Andersen, Jacobson's attorney, said, "I understand there is a person who is taking credit for being the (alleged) defamer. I have not received the court-ordered information yet so it's premature to comment."

Hazel said the newspaper today would turn over the required documents, and he expected Andersen and Jacobson to proceed with their lawsuit for defamation.

Yeah FLOORIST, you are a bully. No doubt a very frustrated human being. I suspect you are unable to comprehend, that all families have difficulties. No, yours is not the worst, though you muddle in it.

You wrote that you spoke with 20 people about this, and none thought Jacobsen should respond with a lawsuit. That FLOORIST, is your attempt to influence the public by way of a blog almost no one reads. Course, it does sound as if your lips and mouth move freely in public. Wow, you had 100% agreement?

You have cameras posted outside your home? Seriously? You know where I am going with this. Why would anyone post cameras outside their home? Afraid of what? At least get better camera's so you can catch the cops planting evidence.

Is your income subsidized by taxpayers? A check each month? Maybe alot of other benefit$? HUH?

QUOTE: "I do feel, however, there's little chance of a defamation suit being successful given the parameters of this issue. "

Seriously! You WORK VERY HARD to sound intelligent. Your writing speaks for itself. "...do however feel," "being successful given..." "given the parameters of this issue."

You work extremely hard at speaking and writing. Why is this?

You're an unhappy gossip. The 20 people who you claim agree with you, are probably people who feel sorry for you. They just agree with you, rather than argue with you.

You prove my point, by actually stating: QUOTE: "I've seen far worse, experienced much graver circumstances and endured infinitely more insufferable things through phone harassment and internet hoodlums bent on distortions beyond your imagination."

You've suffered from phone harassment and internet hoodlums, beyond my imagination?

Dude, you really are into your long, sufferin' life.

Maybe sometime, you'll climb out of your mental cave, and look at what other people have endured in life. Oh my God, you are talking phone harassment and bullies on the net? It all stems to what is happening in your home. You're in your own little world, of poor me. No doubt you are a gossip, and want to protect Cook because she's alot like you.

You have the audacity to think you know what others have gone through in their lives, and assume it is nothing compared to what you have gone through? Wow... How self centered you are.

Maybe you should actually go down to a homeless shelter, or jail, and talk to some of the people there. You might find, your life has been pretty darn good, even with its difficulties, compared to others. Course, you're likely very happy playing the victim in your house with your family. Yes, I read the articles...Kind of a hero/victim character.

CDA PRESS! I voted BEFORE I logged on, and then AGAIN after I logged on. Nice... How many times can I vote that Jacobesen should go ahead with this? How many tims is FLOORIST voting yes that the lawsuit should be dropped? I'll be you're getting IP Addresses from China on this one!

    GOLDEN MEAN.

    "take note...". OF WHAT?

FLOORIST: "in other words, she isn't a tattle tale." Help me out with that. Stating false things about another person is not exactly commendable. How would you describe your friend COOK, since you claim to know so much about her and her two cohorts?

FLOORIST......................What is up with you? One of COOK'S FRIENDS?

floorist - you are quite the bully hiding behind YOUR screen name. Would you please start signing your real name to your childish, holier than though, posts? Otherwise, quit the anonymous bashing of others and grow up.

Miss Cook isn't a coward. She has more integrity than her two cohorts who remain in hiding because she has the chastity to own up to her indiscretion and not sell people out to save face. In other words she isn't a tattle tale.

If Phaedrus and the Tater had Linda Cook's courage they too would forfeit their insincere posture and publicly apologize to Miss Jacobson for their part in this garrulous transgression. Without this it's likely Miss Jacobson will pursue this issue with all the temerity THEY afforded HER.

Are you getting this, Phaedrus and Tater?

On Monday Cook told The Press, "I'm a person of conviction and I'm not afraid to speak out. On the other hand, I have a life so I don't like the spotlight."

What a load of BS. Linda cook should be convicted for defaming someone in a Cowardly Manner, followed by the cowardly efforts of hiding from responsibility of her actions.

Linda Cook had to come forward( no bravery in self-preservation) to try and mitigate her image and the spokesman can try to say they didn't give up the name, it was already made public they just confirmed it.

Linda Cook you are a coward, with the morals we see in the political people you choice to work for, RINO's everyone of them, Progressives hiding within the Republican party you're as big a fraud as they are.

I'll tell you where I fit in, "Joe Jr."

I fit in the "ANSWER THE FRIGGIN QUESTION" genre. Don't doubt who I talk to, and don't you EVER doubt my resolve. This BS has been ongoing for quite some time, and you question MY austerity over an online comment that was intended to be a colloquial comment over a PICTURE?

All Miss Jacobson had to do was say, "No, I'm all natural, are you?". End of discussion. However, in this instance another agenda is obviously in play and I'm a casual observer who disagrees with Judge Luster's crossing State boundaries in some inane effort toward whatever his asinine ruling may produce.

Jay Leno slams Obama...David Letterman slams Michelle Bachman...Chris Rock slams EVERYBODY! But Linda Cook asks a particular question on some woe-be-gone message board in Northwest Who-Gives-a-Chit and you attack me after I outed the TATER?

And Joe, it would be best for your sake to leave me be because I'll make you my next "poster" child...

FLOORIST...................................You spoke to approximately 36 people about this? Either you are lying through your teeth, or are personally involved in some way.

Are you a gossip? Why would you suggest a branding party? Probably think that's cute and catchy? Are you suggesting Jacobsen is over reacting? Are you a friend of Cook's? Do you understand morals and ethics?

Why would you attempt to talk Jacobsen out of her legal "RIGHT" to take someone to court?

Your comment is not cute, it's smutty and childish, in a manipulative way.

Sounds like the Republican Party in Idaho needs to clean house, or the members need to switch parties where they will fit in perfectly.

The First Amendment does not include the right to speak or write, false or intentionally misleading information about another person. Seems to me, there was an intent to harm someone's reputation.

I hope Jacobsen and her attorney, set a good example in court for people like Cook, who think it's ok to name someone publicly, and make suggestive, false statements. I also hope her attorney has the financial ability to do this pro bono. If not, I hope a good, honest attorney who is able, will take this to a jury.

People who have worked hard during their life, and have asset's to protect, do not go out and say false things about other people., especially to harm their reputation. Course, those heavily in debt, with few assets if any, have nothing to worry about. Where do you fit in FLOORIST?

Tater and Phaedrus are a widdol afwaid... >EG<

It's alright, Tater...everyone knows who you are being that you sold yourself out. AIB did the mature thing and owned up to it, which was my recommendation in the first place. Phaedrus, on the other hand, turns all beet red and when people stuff it in his face...

...ask Thaddy...he can 'splain it best...huh, Thad...?

Miss Jacobson, I'm happy you're gaining some closure, but everyone I talk to feels a defamation suit would be a waste of time and money when a good ol' fashioned branding party would suffice. I laud your tenacity, but disagree with trampling the First Amendment in an effort to garner money you'll never see...

...but that's just the opinion of about 3 dozen people I've spoken to about it...

I can't comment on being a mean girl but I can say that life as a mean guy is golden.

I'm sure Tina and her ilk are very disappointed in who AIB really is, instead of who they were wishing it was.

What hypocrisy to write "hard core and inflexible stance" concerning the affinity of another who will not abandon truth.

Lets see now, just who would not compromise good principles? Jesus; Mom & dad regarding the cookie jar, the car keys & such; founders of the USA; defenders of the USA; Ron Paul; etc. Good company. This group is being asked to compromise, be flexible and become a candle in the wind.

Then there are the windy ones trying to snuff out the candle. Unfortunately there always has and will be those who attempt to overcome the good by compromise.

In the Republican, Democratic and other parties there people of good principle. The problem within each is the candle snuffers who are the essence of our troubles. Our duty as Americans is to discern and vote for the good guys. Send ol' Snuffy packin'

Linda Cook caused herself all these problems simply because she doesn't like Tina's personality.

I believe it is worth noting "Our attorneys advised us that it was highly unlikely that an appeal would have been successful in Idaho."

As Idaho is so incredibley bogged down by the Republican control and limitations to where business and individuals can go, The Spokesman Review, in my opinion was correct to not fight the Republican judge serving on his bench with support of Republican dollars. Idaho will always be limited in eduacation, growth and respect from other states because of this hard core and inflexible stance. "Our way or the highway."

My goodness, I've been on the receiving end of bullying by Linda Cook. I believe she tried to damage my career and cause heartache in personal life. The malicious attacks without cause must stop and this is a step in the right direction.
