fiepie: People get arrested all the time if they have no ID. When they get identified through fingerprints or otherwise, they get released. And guess what? It happens to whites, blacks, browns, and whatever other flavor is out there. It happens all the time. Every state has a law that allows for arrests and detentions where an arrestee can later be released after he or she has been identified and the arrest was deemed to have been a detention only and not an arrest.

Arpaio is an aggressive, no-nonsense law enforcer and there ought to be more like him. All of the criticism you see and hear about him to date has been nothing more that hyperbole ginned up by criminals and hoodlums...oh yeah and the Obama Administration.

I am not opposed to legal immigrants working for Idaho farmers, nor am I opposed to legal immigrants living in my neighborhood. I taught my children to respect law and order. Why should we encourage unlawfulness in any form?

Legal immigrants are free to become normal, active participants in a healthy community. (Such as my mothers neighbors, an EMT and his wife, active with the youth, who helped Mom when she had problems and I was out of state.)

Illegals can't participate and they become a burden on the community. They are teaching their children to avoid law and order from the time they enter this country. Can we expect the children to change as they grow up?

Most other countries pickup illegals. If you go to Mexico you are expected to have documentation. European countries expect their citizens to carry documentation even though they can move between countries without passports . We are expected to have documentation to vote, to drive, to drink, to work as a professional and to return to this country after leaving.

Please stop refering to those that are arrested as illegals. They are simply undocumented democrats.

I read an article just recently that Mr. Arpaio, or under his leadership, had picked up some citizens, U.S., that did not have id's on them and they were arrested. Later they were proven to be legal and released.
This was racial profiling, at best.
Since this the Governor of Arizona has stated she would be willing to re-write this bill that is being contested but she was advised to wait for the ruling so they could correct whatever might be needed.

I liked the way this guy worked, have no complaints as to how he treated convicts, etc. but do see and have read other stories where he might be a bit overbearing at times.
Understand that Arizona has a illegal immigrant problem but also understand that Phoenix, where he is sheriff, had a law that made it illegal for the police to ask if one was an illegal immigrant.
    Believe this law was repealed.

idaho native: Is there no end to your ignorance or stupidity? Never mind, it was a rhetoriKal question.

Mr. vonhose: Arpaio is a dedicated public servant who could have retired years ago with a fat pension. So where are the facts and results of your specious accusations? Reign of terror? Such a statement by a politician like Gordon gets no traction because that's all it is...political.

The man is still in office...no prosecutions, no findings of impropriety, no civil rights violations by an adverse administration. Talk about your bogus, utterly unacceptable abuse of power and process.

This guy is a racist crook. Here are some things you might not know about "joe"

    Abuse of Power

In February 2010 Judge John Leonardo of Pima County Superior Court found that Arpaio "misused the power of his office to target members of the (Board of Supervisors) for criminal investigation."[54]

In 2008 a federal grand jury began an inquiry of Arpaio for abuse of power, in connection with an FBI investigation. Arpaio is being investigated for politically motivated and "bogus" prosecutions, which a former US Attorney called "utterly unacceptable". Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has called Arpaio's "long list" of questionable prosecutions "a reign of terror".

I hope they can drive him down to the Southern landfill and get his thoughts on using the county land down there as a tent city for prisoners like the one that he uses.

He is one sheriff that does not beg for 50+ million to build a palace for his prisoners. He refuses to coddle law breakers and that is why the touch-feely liberals hate him so.

Hey dimwit, Sheriff Joe Arpaio is the ONLY guy with some guts to make the legal system live up to its responsibilities. Granted, farmers use illegals at every opportunity and need to be held accountable but THIS GUY is actually doing something about it. Maybe YOU want this country overrun, in order to satisfy your liberal sensibilities, but NOT the rest of us.
