Commander Steve Hanson

Post Falls American Legion Post 143

1138 E. Poleline Ave.

Post Falls, lD 83854

Commander Hanson:

I am writing to assure you that my support for our veterans, the American Legion in general and the Post Falls American Legion in particular remains steadfast, unwavering and unconditional.

The recent guest editorial in the CdA Press grossly misrepresented the facts. My wife, Cathyanne and I have a long history of support and involvement with the American Legion, and we look forward to that continuing. Upon reading the editorial our first concern was that this may cause anxiety to our friends at the Post. I would like to reassure you that there is no cause for concern.

As a Son of the American Legion I very much enjoy spending time at the Post. I have attended the Memorial Day Ceremony for the last 11 years as well as the Post's birthday celebration events. Cathyanne and I particularly enjoyed the anniversary banquet in March of this year.

While in Boise I organized a meeting in the Capitol in 2013 with the State Commander to get the details on what is needed to be done in the legislature to promote and accomplish the construction of the Post Falls Veterans Home. I always look forward to attending the legislative reception hosted by the veterans and the Idaho American Legion Posts. I also sponsored a special "support our Troops" license plate which raises money that is used to support the families of military members. I am proud to have these plates on my truck.

I am grateful to the Post Falls American Legion for allowing me to hold Town Hall meetings for the last three years at the Post, especially the one in April with Congressman Raul Labrador.

Cathyanne enjoys and has fond memories of performing with her violin at veteran events including the inauguration of former Attorney General Al Lance as National Commander of the American Legion, the Military Officers Banquet, the Native American Veterans Memorial on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation, the Disabled Veterans Conference at the Coeur d'Alene Casino, the National Guard Banquet in Post Falls, every Post Falls American Legion Memorial Day Ceremony for the last 10 years and others.

My father was a WWII veteran. My wife's father was a Korean War Veteran. My wife's uncle was a Viet Nam and Korean Wars veteran and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Those that have served in the military protecting this country and our rights are special people for sure. They deserve everyone's support. I hope this letter reinforces to you mine and Cathyanne’s strong and continued dedication to serve those that have served. I will do all that I can as the Senator representing District 3 to see the construction of a veterans home to fruition.

Sincerely,

Senator Bob Nonini

    Brent,
You are not helping your buddy with your ridiculous angry posts. Chill dude, start working on that list of accomplishments......prove to the constituents that Nonini is working for all the people, not just his supporters.
Take a deep breath buddy, you can do it.

The twisted thinking behind the fake indignation is amazing. Cathyanne told Mr. Crosby she would forward his request to her husband. She then went on to offer her private thoughts to Mr. Crosby about Mr. Crosby's and ONLY Mr. Crosby's actions. The only person with standing to even ask for an apology is Mr. Crosby and the only person he could ask for an apology from is Cathyanne. Senator Nonini would be well within his rights to demand Mr. Crosby apologize for making false assertions about the contents of a fictitious conversation.

Cathyanne did not "dismiss the concern's of a constituent" as she clearly stated she would, and did, forward Mr. Crosby's to her husband. As for 'unprofessional behavior', Cathyanne is an unpaid volunteer, helping her husband out of love, and love (amour) is the root of amateur.

This entire chapter is an example of how those with a particular ideology and agenda will ignore facts and logic to promote a libelous narrative and are happily willing to attack family members. They project how they would behave and then feign indignation. So much for 'tolerance'. Disgusting.

Constituent?!?! You are a fiction; an anonymous troll coward who could be anyone anywhere. The fact that you begin every comment with a lie (your identity) puts anything you write on a par with the graffiti on a bathroom stall wall.

    T-minus petulance and counting.........

I think it's time for the same liberals who always comment on here-- all day long, every day as if it were a job-- to call it quits and move to another state. You aren't going to take over Idaho. Get over it.

His wife didn't create the outrage. Crosby did.

Per Brent: "It IS his job to meet with constituents and hear their concerns, issues and opinions so that he may better represent them."

The disclaimer should read--ONLY IF YOU VOTED FOR ME.

Geez, spudman, the facts are very clear. How do you not see that?
When will Nonini explain his wife's letter?
When will he apologize for that letter?

    Nonini did his own smear...
He sure didn't need any help from anyone.

I actually know quite a few retired military and I would love to have that extra income at age 38 until I die. If both people have to work to pay bills in addition to their military retirement then they are living way beyond their means. My family did just fine on my income but we lived a modest lifestyle. The retired military folks I know brag about their Tricare insurance, for price you pay, waiting for an appointment wouldn't be a problem for me. If you are unhappy with your insurance, you can always pay what I pay. I can usually get in within a month to see my doctor.

Bizarre response by Senator Nonini, he offers no apology for the unprofessional behaviour of Mrs. Nonini who was clearly writing on behalf of the Senator. There is no excuse for her to have openly dismissed the concerns of a constituent, none. Frankly it was just another example of Nonini’s inability to understand the needs of the greater community, needs which apparently run a far second to his and Brent Reagan's hard right political ideology. Sincerely, Reid Harlocker

    From Brent:
"Why should anyone take the time to compile a list for someone who has demonstrated they are not interested in the facts or making a rational judgment. It IS his job to meet with constituents and hear their concerns, issues and opinions so that he may better represent them."

Why, you ask? Because I am a Constituent, Brent. That's why.

Why should anyone take the time to compile a list for someone who has demonstrated they are not interested in the facts or making a rational judgment. The Senator's letter has two tangible accomplishments (I am sure there are more) you ignore and dismiss, as well as numerous times he attended American Legion functions. It IS his job to meet with constituents and hear their concerns, issues and opinions so that he may better represent them.

By the way, anonymous trolls who make deliberately deceptive, biased and inaccurate posts provide the fuel to motivate many. Keep up the good work!

Good pension after 20 years, Ha. Where are you getting your info ? I have two brothers that are retired military, one served on the same sub as me. Both had to take on a second career to pay the bills, with their wives working as well. Yes they have medical benefits, but you have all heard how great that has been. Although not retired myself, I have full medical due to a disability from my time in, and I would prefer to go to a private sector doctor. Getting an appt takes forever in the VA, or if you dont want to wait, you can go to the VA in Spokane emergency care, last time I was there, it took 5 hours before I was seen and done with, not counting drive time.
Yep we have it pretty good.

You completely miss the point of outrage for so many of us - your letter (your wife's letter?) implies that Mr. Crosby has no business seeking your support FOR THE VETERAN'S - because he did not, personally, support your candidacy. That is the outrage. But instead of standing up and accepting responsibility for your (your wife's?) words - you throw blame at the Press and Mr. Crosby. You should be ashamed - but I doubt that even crossed your mind. Blame the other guy. Typical politician.

Never let facts get in the way of a public smear from the left wing of the democrat party. Matters not what was said, only the ability to capitalize on a perceived advantage. The "Big lie" tactics of the democrat socialist party continues on. Go after him, the wife, whomever stands against the agenda. Nothing is to low for that crowd. After all, look at their leader.

Actually vets have it pretty good. How many careers can you retire in 20 years with a good pension for life. I know many retired vets who retired at 38 years old and went on to get retirements from other careers. Lets talk about the cost of Tricare and visiting base for the low cost items that the average citizen can't get. I would love to have excellent health care for about $300 a year. You choose not to pursue more than your initial enlistment, no worry you can go to college on vet benefits and also get paid living expenses. Joining the military is a choice and a worthy one just like being a cop, lawyer, or sales clerk. All are needed, some just have better benefits than others.

    Brent,
    No cheese, thanks.
What I would like is to see a list of solid accomplishments from our paid politicians, wouldn't you?

If I only attended parties, celebrations and banquets and organized one meeting, in my profession......I would be fired.

Let's see a list of A.C.C.O.M.P.L.I.S.H.M.E.N.T.S, please. Not photo ops.

Thank you Senator Nonini for setting the record straight! Your ongoing support is appreciated.

I am frustrated and angered that our county commissioners talk about building a plush new jail with bigger cells or a new administrative campus BEFORE they address the needs of our veterans. Lets get our priorities in order!

So, you attended the Veteran sponsored PARTIES and BANQUETS/CELEBRATIONS and organized one meeting to gather a few details about construction of a post Falls Veteran Home.

    WOW! Now that's some accomplishments!
    GEESH.

So explain your wife's letter Bob. You forgot to do that. Seems like she expressed your feelings quite well, she didn't stutter when she wrote her opinion, she was quite clear. The only mistake is having you in office. I am glad I never wasted a vote on you.
