Here are images of the multi-agency law enforcement activity taking place this morning at Park Place Apartments in Coeur d'Alene, on Ramsey Road just south of Kathleen Avenue.

Press photographer Shawn Gust captured these shots.

The police are tracking a suspect for a "possible weapons offense" and limited details are available at this time. The individual may have a "long rifle."

Police have asked residents to stay away from the area, and the apartments have been evacuated.

We are updating this story here on as it unfolds: Police action on Ramsey Road

A potential extremely dangerous situation, that from reports, was handled professionally and led to a peaceful ending. Now it's reported the subject had shot into an occupied residence.

Yet instead of just praise and thanks for a job well done, there are the usual idiotic comments, making comparisons to other incidents, with no reason to do so. Criticizing the tactics that helped lead to the desired outcome.

Thank you Officers and Deputies. Thank you for risking your lives to protect us. Good job!

chouli doesn't give a hoot in a hollow log whether it was peacefully resolved or not. chouli loves to criticize the cops. If they busted down his door and shot him to death chouli would love it because then he/she could call the police murderers.

Nope, this ended in the worst way possible for chouli and floorist because they can't scream MURDER on the part of law enforcement.

I, personally, have no problem in the way this was handled. They are to protect and serve, they did just that.

Tis better to be inconvenienced for a few hours. Your other choice just may be death.

There is nothing wrong with officers also protecting themselves.
Nobody died, how can this be bad?

    Good job all around.

In all fairness, nobody knew if he was asleep, or sitting there waiting for police looking to commit suicide by cop by taking a few of them out with him. I am sure there are numerous scenarios that are prepared for.

Since he had shot into a house he had to expect it to be reported, and further expect police at his door.

Brilliant, chouli! Now I know why you live under a bridge. Sorry, no dead guy for you and floorist to wail about this time.

oh Rogue, I'm flattered that you miss me.

the guy was asleep when they crashed into his room. I don't need to say anything more.

Still waiting for chouli, that expert in tactical deployment, to educate all of us on what the cops are/were doing wrong.

Chouli, what should the rules of engagement be. Should they employ a stealthful or dynamic entry? What about potential booby traps, hostages? What is the suspect armed with? Any explosives? What's he wanted for? Do they have communication with him? Are they negotiating a surrender? Has there been a crime? Is the suspect intoxicated/under the influence of drugs? Any children in the apartment? Is the suspect mentally disturbed?

    Still waiting for your expertise!

Go ahead chouli...tell us what's really going on and how it should be handled. I'm sure when its all over you'll have a detailed critique and an after action report for us.

    Thomas Jefferson said these words which in part say;

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now.
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

    (Quoting Cesare Beccaria) he repeated
“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it. excerpt end

I've been reading a lot of stories like this where these multi task forces storm peoples homes. I guess they are getting ready. Them climbing on the roof reminded me of W A C O. I think everyone is waking up to the fact that no where in the constitution does it say your rights to keep and bear may be denied you or infringed upon. I mean it says that EXPLICITLY.

the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I thought maybe some guy had slapped his "fiancee" around. But after looking at the photos it must have been much worse. We haven't heard from Sgt. Cupcake.

Over-reacting, chouli? In your rainbows & unicorns world the cops would be chilling in their Bermuda shorts with SuperSoakers, but this is reallity...

these pictures portray something more than a "possible weapons offense"

if it's really a "possible weapons offense" then they are over reacting by A LOT

    this is concerning...
