COEUR d'ALENE - A missing female teenager out of Washington was located and her suspected abductor was arrested Monday in Coeur d'Alene.

Douglas E. Hawkins, 24, of Colville, Wash., was arrested and charged with kidnapping after the vehicle he was driving was stopped in the 200 block of North 23rd Street.

Coeur d'Alene police officers began searching for the car after its license plate triggered a response because it had been entered in the National Crime Information Computer. It was heading eastbound on Interstate 90, traveling through Post Falls.

The vehicle was listed as the vehicle being used by Hawkins, who was suspected of fleeing Stevens County with a 14-year-old female sometime around July 26.

The female juvenile was taken into custody and arrangements will be made to return her to Colville. The Stevens County Sheriff's Department is the originating agency investigating this case.
