If you'd like to invest in Kootenai County's future, enjoy an elegant summer evening on Lake Coeur d'Alene or even hit golf balls onto a floating green from one of the most scenic properties around, you better act fast.
Eighty tickets remain on sale for the July 24 Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County fundraiser courtesy of Duane B. Hagadone, chairman of The Hagadone Corp., and his wife, Lola.
More than 400 of the $100 tickets, which are tax-deductible thanks to Hagadone sponsoring the event, have been sold. Tickets are available at www.bgc-northidaho.org or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
"We've had a tremendous response, and the Boys and Girls Club board is ecstatic about how much interest and enthusiasm there is," said Linda Rohlinger, a board member of the club and fundraiser organizer. "We look forward to an elegant evening on one of the most beautiful properties in the Northwest.
"The Hagadones have graciously sponsored the event and every penny collected that evening will go directly to the club."
The gala will include a cruise to the property, heavy appetizers, a hosted bar on the lawn, music by Robert Vaughn who performs at Beverly's, live auction, spectacular views of the lake and the estate's gardens and a chance to hit golf balls onto a modified floating green from the beach.
The gardens feature more than 300,000 plants and flowers peppered with walking trails, rock formations and extensive water features. More than 20,000 annuals were planted this year.
Two golf balls cost $20 and the closest to the pin will win four rounds of golf at The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
Two cruises - departing at 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 from The Boardwalk Marina adjacent to The Coeur d'Alene Resort - will transport attendees to the gala. Check-in begins at 4:45 p.m. The cruises will return to the marina at 8:45 p.m.
Two tickets for $250 each from the property back to The Coeur d'Alene Resort aboard the Sizzler, Hagadone's 60-foot sailing yacht, remain on sale. Those interested in making the trip to the property in a helicopter should call Rohlinger at 819-9988.
The live auction items include a weekend trip for six to Napa Valley via a private jet that includes wine-tasting tours and transportation, a helicopter ride around Lake Coeur d'Alene with dinner at either Beverly's or The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course for up to five people and an evening cocktail cruise aboard the Sizzler with dinner at Beverly's for up to eight people.
Attire for the event is resort casual. Flat shoes and a sweater are recommended.
Rohlinger said the VIP tickets, which are $2,000 per person and include a limousine ride to the party, a private reception with the Hagadones and a tour of their Casco Bay estate, are nearly sold out.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to complete the Boys and Girls Club facility under construction in Post Falls.
The 10,000-square-foot, $1.3 million building next to the Post Falls Library is expected to be completed between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The nonprofit club offers after-school and summer programs to kids ages 6-18.
