Dani Failor said she likes structure.

If that's the case, the Post Falls High senior couldn't have picked a better place to continue her education than the military.

In this case, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., where Failor on Sunday gave a verbal commitment to play basketball at Army.

"They have really good academics there," said Failor, who took an official visit to the Army campus last weekend. "I love the team, they are awesome, and the coaching staff is great. The campus is filled with tons of history. And the way the school is run is super structured - and I like structured."

Failor, a 6-foot-1 forward/center, also had offers from Sacramento State and Air Force, but canceled official visits to those schools after committing to Army. She said the Army recruited her as a forward/center.

After her four years at West Point, Failor, who has a 3.8 GPA, said she is considering going to medical school.

She said she may also consider playing volleyball at West Point.

Failor, who has started at Post Falls since her sophomore season, wanted to get her college decision made before basketball season started.

“Not having it made during the season would have been super stressful,” said Failor, an all-5A Inland Empire League selection last season.

Failor is the second member of the Post Falls girls team to verbally commit to an NCAA Division I program for next season. Hallie Gennett, a senior who transfered from University High in the Spokane Valley, earlier committed to Sacramento State.
