L-C State names Rinta
as men's hoop coach
LEWISTON - Brandon Rinta, who has been assistant coach at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa the past four seasons, was named head men's basketball coach at Lewis-Clark State College, the school announced Tuesday.
Rinta replaces Tim Walker, who resigned in March after serving as coach for four seasons. He played at Central Washington University where he graduated in 2001 and spent five years at Eastern Washington under coaches Ray Giacoletti and Mike Burns before accepting the NNU assistant job.
He was also in consideration for the another position in the Pacific Northwest when he accepted the LCSC position.
George Pfeifer, a former Lewis-Clark State coach and Kevin Burton, head coach at NAIA Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn., were among the other finalists. North Idaho College men's basketball coach Jared Phay was also being considered, but he pulled his name out of the running last week.
