• MAJORS (age 11-12)

Post Falls 6, Northwest Ada 4: Quin Bennett homered for the second straight day and Post Falls went on to beat Northwest Ada at the Charles F. McDevitt Youth Complex in Meridian to sweep their best-of-3 series 2-0.

Post Falls advances to the Northwest Regional Aug. 3-11 in San Bernardino, Calif. It's the second time in four years Post Falls has made it to regionals.

Bennett finished 2 for 4 and hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to increase Post Falls' lead to 6-2. Winning pitcher Jake Pfennigs struck out four and also went 3 for 4.

"Just good kids - no selfishness whatsoever," Post Falls manager Dusty Pfennigs said. "It was just an all-around team effort."

• AGE 10-11

North Boise 17, Hayden 7: North Boise finished off a sweep of Hayden in the best-of-3 state playoffs at the Charles F. McDevitt Youth Complex in Meridian. Hunter Wabs hit a three-run homer for Hayden, which trailed 8-7 before North Boise erupted for eight runs in the top of the fifth inning.

• JUNIORS (age 13-14)

North Boise 10-12, Post Falls 4-5: The District 2 champions beat the District 1 champs in a pair of games Saturday at Bret James Memorial Field in Post Falls to win the best-of-3 series 2-0 and advance to the West Regional July 31-Aug. 7 in Vancouver, Wash.

Post Falls was held to one hit in the first game. Cal Gustavsen went 2 for 3 with a two-run single and a run scored for North Boise.

In the second game, Jake Fritz went 3 for 4 and Shane Rene was 2 for 3 and scored three runs for North Boise. Colton Roberts was 2 for 4 and scored twice for Post Falls.
