ST. MARIES - J.J. Winger struck out seven over six innings as the Coeur d'Alene Loggers defeated the Prairie Cardinals 16-2 in the opening round of the Area A District A tournament Thursday.

Jacob McKnight went 5 for 5 with a double, triple and three RBIs for Coeur d'Alene (21-22), which faces top-seed Lewis-Clark today at 2 p.m.

Jesse Marks went 3 for 3 and Logan Bruner went 2 for 3 for Prairie, which plays a loser-out game on Saturday.

St. Maries 9, Camas Prairie 1: Ashton Stephenson struck out seven and had two hits as St. Maries defeated Camas Prairie of Grangeville in an opening-round game.

Ryan Beggerly had two doubles and a single for St. Maries, which faces Orofino tonight at 5 p.m.

Orofino defeated Moscow 9-8 earlier Thursday.

Moscow and Camas Prairie play a loser-out game today at 11 a.m.
