SELECT SOFTBALL

The Kootenai Ice 18-and-under ASA fastpitch team won its division at the Lewiston Rampage June 23-24.

The Ice lost to Outrage 8-2 to put them in the losers bracket. They went on to beat the Tribe 13-2 to advance to the championship game against Outrage, which they won 7-6.

Kendal Floch tripled in the first inning to score Tori Schuler and Ashlei Jerome. Amber Edwards drove in Floch.

Jenna Hoffman hit a three-run home run, scoring Edwards and Alia Cox, to put the Ice up 6 -1. Outrage tied the score in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth Halee Edelblute hit a double and scored on a triple hit by Cox to put the Ice ahead to stay.

The pitching duties were shared by Amber Hawkes and Nicole Cameron.

Leading the team in hitting were Edwards with a batting average of .688 and Hawkes with an average of .583. Floch had a total of six RBIs. Kodi Kuykendall, Edelblute, Tori Schuler and Cox all had over .350 batting averages for the tournament.

JUNIOR TACKLE

Post Falls Junior Tackle Football and Cheer is putting on a summer cheer and football camp July 30-Aug. 2.

The camp is for boys and girls entering grades 4-8.

Post Falls High coaches and players, as well as cheerleaders, will direct the camp.

Fee is $60.

Season fees for football and cheer is $85, with a $100 deposit required for both football and cheer equipment/uniforms (deposit returned at end of season).

LITTLE LEAGUE

District 1 baseball tournament: Hayden Black defeated Sandpoint 14-12 and Hayden Red 13-9 in its first two games of the age 9-10 tournament in Rathdrum. Hayden Red defeated Post Falls Orange 16-8.

Pool play continues Thursday.
