COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen lost 7-5 to the Spokane Crew and then lost 7-5 to the Eagle Vipers late Thursday night to finish 2-2 in pod play in the Senior Division of the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Wood Bat Classic at McEuen Field.
Coeur d'Alene (24-5) will play today at McEuen Field, but the game time and the opponent were not available as The Press went to press.
Prairie finishes 0-4 in pod play
POST FALLS - The Prairie Cardinals lost 9-1 to the Idaho Falls Russets and fell 6-2 to Chino (Calif.) Red on Thursday to finish 0-4 in their pod in the Senior Division at the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Wood Bat Classic at Post Falls High.
Against Idaho Falls, Prairie managed just two hits, scoring its lone run in the second inning on Tyler Shaffer's RBI double.
Prairie outhit Chino 8-5 but didn't score until the seventh, when Tyler Burnett delivered a two-run double.
"It's been a weird tournament for us," Prairie coach Dustin Frank said. "We've lost two games where we doubled their hits. You're kind of scratching your heads, wondering why you lost those games. We can't really pinpoint one thing."
Prairie (14-12) wraps up tourney play today with an 8 a.m. game at Ferris High in Spokane.

* JUNIOR DIVISION
The Coeur d'Alene Loggers won twice on Thursday to finish second in the Hayden pod of the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Wood Bat Classic.
The Loggers beat the Eagle Vipers 3-2 and the Coeur d'Alene Lumberjacks U16 team 5-3.
Against Eagle, Jacob McKnight hit a two-run single and Derek Griffin hit an RBI single as the Loggers scored all three of their runs in the third inning. McKnight struck out five in five innings.
Against the Lumberjacks, McKnight went 3 for 4 with a double, and Brent Wingham and Dan Bryant each had two hits for the Loggers, which broke a 2-all tie with three runs in the fifth inning. Bryant drove in two runs. Griffin was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits and striking out four.
Michael Hicks went 2 for 4 with two doubles for the Lumberjacks, who took advantage of three Loggers errors to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jordan Ross went 2 for 4 for the Lumberjacks.
Perros del Rio of Spokane went 4-0 to win the Hayden pod, beating Rogers 4-2 and the Eagle Vipers 20-1 on Thursday. Rogers and the Coeur d'Alene Lumberjacks tied 9-9 in a game called after seven innings due to the tourney's 2-hour, 15-minute time limit. Elliot Sparks went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Lumberjacks, and Ross was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
Eagle and the Loggers each finished 2-2 in pod play, Rogers was 1-2-1, the Lumberjacks 0-3-1.
Both Coeur d'Alene teams advance to the Lake City pod today. The Loggers (11-10) play at 6 p.m. in a quarterfinal game, the Lumberjacks (19-6-1) at 8 a.m. Neither team's opponent was immediately available. The Lumberjacks will be done with the tourney after that game; the Loggers will be playing for a berth in Saturday's semifinals.
The Coeur d'Alene Lakers U16 team (13-11) finished 0-4 in pod play at Lake City High, losing 13-1 to the Boise Barons and 15-1 to Okotoks Red.
Okotoks Red beat University 10-1 to finish 4-0 in its pod. University was 3-1, Northwest Christian 2-2 and the Boise Barons 1-3.
In Thursday's other Lake City pod scores, University beat Northwest Christian 14-3 and Northwest Christian beat the Boise Barons 6-5.
