David Alan Ornellas, 65

David Alan Ornellas, beloved son of Antone and Jean Ornellas, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 26, 2017.

David was born on June 22, 1952, in New Bedford, Mass. When he was 5, the family moved to California.

In 1964, the family moved to Fountain Valley, Calif., where he attended Fountain Valley High School. Following that, he did odd jobs at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant. He married Deborah Burleigh on April 21, 1975.

David later joined the Army, and upon his discharge, worked as a truck driver and saw a lot of country. He went back into the nuclear field and eventually became senior health technician, and in this position, was assigned to work at nuclear power plant outages around different parts of the country.

He was interested in so many things. Camping, photography, astronomy, travel, cooking and music, to name a few.

Later in life, he sustained an injury which caused him to be paralyzed for the rest of his life.

He loved the Lord. He enjoyed reading the Bible very much to his grandchildren, which he adored. He attended Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif., for many years, and then started attending Calvary Chapel in West Grove, Calif., where he made many wonderful friends, was involved in many activities and enjoyed helping out there. He called them his church family and was especially loved by the Prideaux family, which we are eternally grateful for all the kindness they showed him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a few aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Ornellas of Fullerton Calif.; parents Tony and Jean Ornellas of Post Falls, Idaho; brothers Steven, Richard and Brad Ornellas; sister Jeannie Ornellas Girard; his children, Justin, David, Jessica, Chris and Matthew Ornellas; nephews Michael Girard, Thomas, Jacob and Andrew Ornellas; and grandchildren Alexander, Andrew, Alyna, Sophia Malachi, Quantino and Giovani.

Interment was on Oct. 16, 2017, at Arlington Veterans Cemetery in Riverside Calif., followed by a memorial service and luncheon at Calvary Chapel in West Grove.
