Shirley Jean (Fisher) Goldberg, 74
After a long illness, our beloved Shirley passed away on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Goldberg; her sister, Mary Tappen; a brother, Isaac Fisher; her daughters, Barbara, Diana, Lisa, and Myrah and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Madeline and George Fisher; her sister, Anny Fisher and her sons, Glen and Steven.
Shirley was born in Moscow, Idaho, on Aug. 25, 1943. She grew up on farms with hard work, raising animals, gardening, canning and cutting Christmas trees, and earned the title and responsibilities of “Head Cook” for her family on their working ranch above Turner Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho. She was an outstanding cook and could make the best pies, but her father’s favorite was her spoon noodles!
For fun on her free time she loved fishing and adored horses and horseback riding. Along with her parents, Shirley created the love of an annual tradition of huckleberry picking that has carried on to this day, by her children and grandchildren, and now her great-grandchildren, whom all look forward to that season every year.
Shirley spent several years working as a medical assistant and then seven years as an owner and operator of a daycare. She so loved holding new babies!
This lovely lady with her generous nature had true tenacity and was someone who would fly to your assistance if you needed her help, pulling out all stops to do so. Her favorite saying of encouragement was, “Hang in there.”
She was a God-fearing Christian woman who loved God, knew Jesus Christ as her savior, prayed and read her Bible regularly. She recently spoke of looking forward to going home to Heaven where she could hold her sons again and be with her mother and father. Shirley was very much loved and she will be missed.
There will be a graveside service held with Pastor Moses Ramirez at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at Riverview Cemetery, 1065 N. Lincoln Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Following will be a celebration of life memorial from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Sun Aire Estates community center, 11392 North Alaska Loop, Hayden, Idaho.
