Georgia P. Kellas, age 89, passed away peacefully Dec. 1, 2017, at Hospice House of North Idaho. She was born in Athens, Greece in 1928. She was brought to America on an arranged marriage to Peter Kellas, a farmer from her same village back in the old country. Peter had moved from Greece to the states (Hayden Lake, Idaho) several years earlier.
After she arrived into the states at age 18, they started their family. They had a beautiful farmhouse in Hayden, where they raised two boys, Tom and Harry. Georgia was active in the Greek community and attended Holy Trinity of Spokane.
She served and worked over 10 years for the U.S. Forest Service of Idaho. She was an active gardener, farmer and loved to cook and feed her people. She adored her family and was especially fond of her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and was always adopting new pets and caring for them at the farm.
She is survived by several family members back in the old country; son,
Tom, in Olympia and his daughters and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Harry, in 2013, who is survived by his daughter and grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House of North Idaho, or Holy Trinity Church of Spokane.
There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Bell Tower Funeral Home, 3398 E. Jenalan Ave., Post Falls, followed by a graveside ceremony at 1 pm at Riverview Cemetery, 1001 Lincoln Way, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
