Susan M. Sullivan, 65

“Susie” Sullivan of Coeur d’Alene passed away Feb. 4, 2018, at Kootenai Memorial Hospital. Born July 20, 1952, in Hibbing, Minn. to Joseph and Kathleen Tardy. She attended Greenway High School in Coleraine, graduating in 1970. She moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1971.

She had two sons, Randy Schwartz in 1971 and William Schwartz in 1975. Susie started work at the Forest Service Tree Nursery in 1977 until she retired in 2009. In 1978 while at the nursery, she met her future husband, Art Sullivan. They married in 1983 and lived happily together for almost 40 years. Susie was a busy woman and worked at multiple jobs including becoming one of the first female tree planters. She loved to travel and visited many new places with her husband. She was always reading and used her mastery of needlepoint to create wonderful baby blankets for many newborn children.

Everyone who knew Susie knew of her warm and loving heart that she shared with her friends and family, and especially her cute and mischievous dogs, Charley and Jack-Jack. Susie also developed lifelong friendships from her work with the Forest Service and from Gibbs Tavern and the Fort Grounds Tavern.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest son, Randy Schwartz and her younger brothers, Joey and Jim Tardy. She is survived by her loving husband, Art; her kind-hearted son, William Schwartz; her sister, Jill Bemis of Oakdale, Minn.; her grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole, Laura, Jordan, William and Vanessa (who were born to William) and Talia, Alexandria, and Ariana (who were born to Randy); along with her seven great-grandbabies. Susie will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final care and arrangements. Please visit Susie’s memorial and sign her online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
