SPIRIT LAKE — Jeremy McLemore scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14-all in the third quarter, but the Priest River Spartans scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to beat the Timberlake Tigers 28-14 in the Intermountain League finale for both at Van Tuistra Memorial Stadium on Friday.

The loss eliminates Timberlake (1-7, 1-2 IML) from postseason contention for the first time since 2000.

Robbie Anselmo ran for 175 yards for Priest River (4-4, 2-1), which travels to Homedale, the District 3 runner-up next weekend to open the state playoffs.

St. Maries (4-4, 0-2 CIL) travels to the District 3 champion to open the playoffs next week.

Orofino (3-5, 1-1) hosts the third place team from District 3.

COLTON, Wash. — The Warriors (2-5) dropped a nonleague game to the Wildcats (5-3).

Kootenai concludes the season next Saturday against visiting Timberline of Weippe.

SPIRIT LAKE — McKeeley Tonkin had 12 assists, six digs and three aces to lead the second seeded Tigers past the fourth seeded Wildcats 25-13, 25-11, 25-16 in the 3A District 1 second place match to advance to the state tournament starting next Friday.

Ashlyn Mallet had five kills and one block, Caitlin Garwood four kills, Kenzie Dean four kills and six digs and Kylie Marneris 18 digs for Timberlake (16-18), which opens at state against Kimberly (15-1) at 9 a.m. to be determined.
