COEUR d’ALENE — Sam Matheson scored 17 points for the Vikings in a win over the Bulldogs at Elmer Jordan Court.

“I kind of challenged our guys at halftime on our defensive intensity,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Tony Hanna, whose team led 24-21 at halftime. “Tonight was senior night and I challenged them to focus a little more on both sides of the ball and felt like our intensity was better at both ends of the floor. Lakeland pulled away in the fourth quarter, extending a three-point lead with three straight 3-pointers.

“It was a good game,” Timberlake coach Michael Scott said. “We were down three at the half, but they were able to pull away. Both teams worked hard.”
