Keara Simpson

Lake City High

Simpson, a senior, won the state 5A discus title with a throw of 134 feet, 9 inches at Dona Larsen Park on May 19 in Boise, helping the Timberwolves to a fifth-place finish in the meet. “I’ve never come in as a first seed all four years of high school so it was kind of no pressure because I was the underdog,” said Simpson of the state title. “Last year getting second, this season I definitely wanted to get first.”
