Former Post Falls High soccer star Timmy Mueller was selected by the Portland Timbers in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft on Sunday.
Mueller, a forward who recently completed his collegiate career at Oregon State, was the 63rd overall pick.
The draft consisted of four rounds.
Mueller posted 23 goals and 10 assists in 67 career appearances over four years at Oregon State and tied the school record with 10 career game-winning goals. Mueller was also the 2014 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and made the 2014 Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI, was a College Soccer News Freshman All-American and was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman team.
He was an All-Pac-12 First Team selection in 2015 and an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection in 2016.
At Post Falls, he helped the Trojans win the state 5A championship in 2012 and also earned Idaho Player of the Year and Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year honors. He earned All-American honors in 2014 and finished with 104 career goals.
Prior to joining Oregon State in the fall of 2014, Mueller played the second half of the debut campaign of the Spokane Shadow Men’s First Team in the Evergreen Premier League, scoring three goals in helping lead the side to the league’s inaugural championship. While in college, he spent further summers playing for Timbers U-23s in the USL Premier Development League.
