Wednesday big day on EPA cleanup agenda

Print Article

This Wednesday is the

only public meeting the Environmental Protection Agency has

scheduled so far for the new mining waste cleanup plan, the Upper

Coeur d'Alene River Basin Proposed Plan.

So folks might want

to pencil it on their calendars.

The meeting will take

place at the Shoshone Medical Center Health and Education

Center in

Smelterville, located at 858 Commerce Drive.

An open house is

scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m., where there will be an informal Q

and A session, and individuals can submit written comments.

That will follow with

a public meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m., where folks can give oral and

written testimony.

After reviewing and

responding to comments on the proposed document, the EPA will issue

a final cleanup decision in a ROD amendment later this year.
