The Lake City High team of sophomores Kylar Fugate and Loren Torok recently won the Idaho/Montana High School Bass Fishing Championships in Mountain Home.

The teens took the title by weighing in five fish with a total weight of 19.8 pounds. The anglers' bag consisted of largemouth bass in an area that is predominantly smallmouth bass waters. Five teams competed in the event, sponsored by The Idaho Bass Federation.

The team and boat captain Shane Torok advance to a regional tourney on Clear Lake in California in October to represent Idaho and Lake City High.

The high school fishing program will grant students at more than 23,000 high schools across the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete at a high level, gain experience and earn scholarships.

Last year Torok teamed up with Blake Torok to finish second at the Idaho/Montana event.

Fugate will also fish in Louisiana in August as an Idaho representative for the Forrest Wood Cup world championship that he qualified for last summer.
