Schlatter earns payroll certification
Natalie Schlatter, accounting administrator at Kootenai Electric Cooperative, has been awarded the Fundamental Payroll Certification by the American Payroll Association.
The FPC designation is awarded based on the successful completion of a comprehensive three-hour exam covering payroll operations. There are more than 4,400 practicing FPCs worldwide.
Adopt Idaho hires new executive director
Adopt Idaho announced the hire of Miles Torres as its new executive director.
Torres brings 14 years of experience working with diverse stakeholders in the foster/adoption sector to the Coeur d’Alene-based nonprofit. Torres will oversee Adopt Idaho’s statewide efforts in specialized adoption services. In his role as executive director, he will will develop Adopt Idaho’s comprehensive strategic plan, which includes grant writing , fundraising, communications, strategic partnerships, brand awareness, and support for the children and families Adopt Idaho works closely with.
Transitioning into the role of program manager will be Brenda Torres. Her focus will be primarily in supervising the professional staff of Adopt Idaho, as well as bringing on a new program that will make adoption more accessible to families wishing to adopt from the Idaho foster care system. Together, they hope to bring more emphasis to the mission of Adopt Idaho - discovering and training families to adopt Idaho’s most at-risk and longest-waiting foster children.
“I’m thrilled to lead Adopt Idaho. We have an enormous job ahead of us to fulfill our mission of finding adoptive homes for Idaho’s most at-risk and longest waiting foster kids,” said Torres. “We love being a part of the Coeur d’Alene community and serving the entire state of Idaho. We know the community is ready to help Idaho’s most vulnerable foster kids find a permanent, loving family.”

Severns earns Washington architectural license
Architects West announced Jolleen Severns recently earned her Washington State Architectural License. Severns is a LEED BD+C Accredited Professional and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Washington State University. Jolleen previously worked for firms in Denver, Colorado, Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon before joining Architects West in 2007. Severns is currently working on the Quincy City Hall and the Quincy Public Safety Facility, Gib Olinger Elementary School in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and the Christian Aid Center in Walla Walla, to name just a few.
