TRUMP: Checks and balances needed

Print Article

Jerry Martin writes that he’s proud to be a “Trump Deplorable” (Letters, Coeur d’Alene Press, June 23). Polls show an improving economy and a strong sense of nationalism are the foremost reasons President Trump’s supporters like him. History shows an improving economy and a strong sense of nationalism were the foremost reasons Germans supported Adolf Hitler in 1936.

As Trump consolidates his power by weakening the Judicial and Legislative branches of government, he moves us closer and closer to Fascism. Will Americans fall into goose step with him, or will they wake up and restore the checks and balances of our democracy?
