THANKS: JROTC pitch proves popular

Print Article

Iíd like to thank Jessica Mahuron and the League of Women Voters for allowing me the time to present a proposal for a junior ROTC program in our high schools. Thanks too to Devin Weeks and the Coeur díAlene Press for covering it. And especially, a big thanks to the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps. You young men sat so patiently for two hours while you had a million other things to do.

Since The Press article was published, emails have been pouring in by the hundreds. From New York to Alaska and all points in-between. Momsí clubs, school employees, police, businesses ó itís safe to say the community wants this program. Iíve tested the ability to collect funds from local businesses and all are willing to participate where they can.

The one disappointment I have is not one of our local state representatives has volunteered to participate. They know how to navigate political water better than the general public. So thanks to you all.
