PRESS: Insider/outsider bias

In one short phrase, Friday’s headline, “Outsiders vs. incumbents,” The Press established that anyone running for City Council who is not an incumbent is an “outsider” and that makes all incumbents the “insiders.” Thank you for pointing out that our current City Council is built of “insiders.” It’s clear that The Press is endorsing the insider incumbents and defining all other candidates/citizens as outsiders. You might do well to confine your editorial statements to your editorial column and to also clearly identify when you are endorsing a candidate for office.
