License plate leads police to hit-and-run suspect

POST FALLS — Hit-and-run suspects aren't always caught, but occasionally strong clues of their whereabouts are left behind.

A license plate fell off the suspect's truck during a rear-end crash on Ponderosa Boulevard in Post Falls on Tuesday night, leading police to the suspect's home.

Dale J. Lindsey, Post Falls, was subsequently arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

The female victim was driving a gold 2014 Land Rover westbound at 8:19 p.m., according to police. The vehicle had stopped on Ponderosa at Shore Pines Court while making a turn and yielding to eastbound traffic when it was struck from behind by a white Toyota Tundra.

The crash pushed the Land Rover into a snow bank, the police report states. The alleged female victim went to an urgent care center complaining of neck pain.
