SELECT SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene Sting under-14 girls: The Sting placed second in the Premier Division at the recent Northwest Cup in Spokane.

The Sting opened the tourney by beating the Spokane Elite (Torres) 3-0 on goals by Cydney Roop, Halle Eborall (Mikinzie Hague assist), and Sydney Quimby (Julia McCaw assist).

The Sting defeated Missoula FC 5-0. Halle Eborall and Cydney Roop each had two goals, Mikinzie Hague one. The Sting beat 3 Rivers 4-0 with goals by Sydney Quimby, Kelsey Grinde, Bella Scott and Cydney Roop. Magen Daniels had an assist. Goalkeepers Julia Roach and Sami Lane teamed for the shutout.

In the semifinals, the Sting beat the Spokane Sabers 4-2. Cydney Roop scored three goals and Alex Boifeuillet added one. Catelin Barber and Hallie Eborall each had an assist.

In the finals the Sting lost to the Spokane Elite (Faridnia) 3-1.

JV SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene boys: Sandpoint scored in the 82nd minute to edge the Vikings 1-0 in their season opener. Coeur d'Alene plays at Post Falls on Monday.

RATHDRUM PARKS AND RECREATION

Late-night signups: Late-night registration for fall sports for parents who can't make it into the office during the day is scheduled for Thursday until 8 p.m. at the Rathdrum Parks and Rec department.

Signups are for soccer, flag football and volleyball.

The regular signup deadline is this Friday.

COEUR d'ALENE RECREATION

The Coeur d'Alene Recreation Department is continuing with flag football registration through the end of August. Flag football is offered for second- and third-graders. Registration is at Coeur d'Alene City Hall, located at 710 Mullan Ave.
