Williams not returning as

Kellogg football, softball coach

Alan Williams, coach of the Kellogg High football and softball teams the past five years, resigned at the end of the school year in June, athletic director Dick Schreiber said.

Williams had been on paid administrative leave after an investigation into hazing on a bus following a Wildcat softball game. Williams went 13-30 with one state 3A playoff appearance in 2007 as Wildcat football coach.

He also led the school to its first state softball appearance in 2010, going 1-2 at Ramsey Park in Coeur d'Alene.

A search to replace him is ongoing.

EWU men pick up

transfer from Saint Joseph's

CHENEY - With 45 games of NCAA Division I men's basketball experience, Justin Crosgile will transfer from Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia to play at Eastern Washington University, new Eagle head coach Jim Hayford announced Tuesday.

Crosgile, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound guard, started 19 of 26 games as a freshman for Saint Joseph's in the 2009-10 season, then played in 19 games as a non-starter last season. Formerly from Paterson, N.J., and a 2009 graduate of DePaul High School, he will sit out the 2011-12 season at Eastern and then have two years of eligibility remaining.

"Justin will bring great experience and talent to our program at the point guard position," said Hayford.

Crosgile averaged 5.9 points, 1.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game at St. Joseph's. He made 32.8 percent of his field goal attempts (86 of 262), 30.2 percent of his 3-point attempts (48 of 159) and 78.9 percent of his free throws (45 of 57).

Coming out of high school, Crosgile was ranked No. 24 in the nation among the class of 2009 point guards by scout.com. He received offers from St. John's, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Maryland and Houston.
