COEUR d’ALENE — A man who pleaded guilty to possessing thousands of images depicting child sexual abuse was placed on supervised probation.

George K. Nolan, 49, pleaded guilty in February to three counts of sexual exploitation of a child by possession or access of sexually exploitative material, all felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

First District Judge Rich Christensen sentenced Nolan on Thursday to 10 years in prison, then suspended the sentence and placed Nolan on supervised probation for four years.

The charges stem from last year, when undercover detectives monitoring peer-to-peer networks learned that Nolan was in possession of illegal material, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

A search of Nolan’s home and computer reportedly yielded more than 2,000 images, including videos, that depicted prepubescent girls being sexually abused by adult men.
