COEUR d'ALENE — A woman was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday afternoon.
Capt. Dave Hagar said a driver in a Jeep Liberty told police he was northbound on Fourth Street when he swerved left to avoid a collision from Spokane Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
The Jeep jumped a curb, struck a pedestrian and a parked vehicle before coming to a stop in the parking lot of Runge Furniture, police said.
A witness told The Press the pedestrian, a young woman, was thrown 5 to 10 feet by the impact and briefly pinned between the wheels of the vehicles.
Hagar said the woman was injured and taken to Kootenai Health.
