Edna Lorenz Persling, 88

Edna Lorenz Persling, 88, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Luther Park in Sandpoint, Idaho, surrounded by family. Private family services have been held.

Edna was born on March 12, 1931, in Dodge, N.D., to Fred and Magdalena Lorenz. She grew up and attended schools in Dodge. She earned her teaching certificate and taught school for a couple of years.

On May 28, 1951, Edna married James Persling in Dodge. After James completed his tour in the Army, they settled in Cut Bank, Mont., where together they raised a family of four children. After the children left home she became a professional drapery seamstress. In 2016, Edna moved to Sandpoint to be closer to family.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cut Bank and enjoyed competing in the Cut Bank Toastmistress competitions. Edna enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren, swimming, cooking and baking. She spent endless hours playing Skip-Bo with Jena always wanting to keep score to make sure who was winning.

She is survived by four children, Jane (Doug) Deaton of Augusta, Mont., Louie (Carla) Persling of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Cherri (Larry) Berg of Sandpoint and Paula (Kim) Wunderlich of Kalispell, Mont.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia (Ron) Sprague of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, Ervin (Mabel) Lorenz of Beulah, N.D., and Herbert (Deloris) Lorenz of Orangevale, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim Persling in 1987; seven sisters and two brothers.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Edna’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
