Jimmie Ford Caddel, 80
After a little over a yearlong battle with cancer, Jimmie passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Spirit Lake, Idaho on Feb. 28, 2019.
He was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Chickasha, Okla., to John Ford Caddel and Mary Elois (Russell) Caddel. Early in childhood, he moved with his parents and sisters to Sebastopol, Calif., where he graduated high school. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1960 as a jet mechanic. He found his bride while he was stationed in Germany and he brought her home to Northern California where they had a daughter.
His love of working with his hands and his creativity was a natural fit for his trade as a carpenter and he built many of the homes he and his family lived in. He moved his family to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1980, where he lived out the rest of his days in what he described as “God’s Country.” He liked being and working outdoors, hanging out with his dog, traveling in his RV and Sunday dinners with his family. He was a member of the Kootenai County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse in the 1980s.
Jimmie was a devoted son and a wonderful dad and grandpa. He is survived by Tina (Lee) of Hayden, Idaho; two grandchildren, Lane and Cheyenne; and two sisters, Jan and Judy of Petaluma, Calif. He will be fondly remembered and in our hearts always.
No public services are planned at this time. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
