Nearly 200 swimmers complete Cd’A Crossing

COEUR d’ALENE — The 2019 Coeur d’Alene Crossing event had 198 swimmers complete a 1.2- or 2.4-mile course across Lake Coeur d’Alene on Sunday morning.

The open water swim benefits three local non-profits: Union Gospel Mission, North Idaho College Booster Club, and the Coeur d’Alene Area Swim Team. It starts at Arrow Point (Discovery Marina) and the finish is at the Hagadone Event Center, with swimmers passing the iconic Floating Green.

Marcus Gentry was first in the 2.4-mile swim, completing the course in 45 minutes, 43 seconds. He was followed by Nicholas Walkley (45:52) and Logan Robillard (48:13).

Among the female swimmers, Sakaiya McCoy finished the 2.4-mile swim first, in 51:45. She was followed by Abbey Whiting (53:00) and Sarah Nicholls (54:28).

In the 1.2-mile swim, the top three female finishers were Madeleine Dodge (32:45), Camryn Schmidt (35:29) and Demi Blaylock (38:10). Among male swimmers, the top three were Quinn McGovern (40:27), Trevin Spencer (42:09) and Cooper Ray (42:58).
