COEUR d’ALENE — Defensive specialist Allie Brebner had 31 digs to help visiting St. Maries dig out of a two sets to one deficit on Monday night, as the Lumberjacks rallied past Coeur d’Alene Charter 25-15, 22-25, 16-25, 25-21, 15-8 at Holy Family Catholic School.
Kirsten Miller had six kills and two blocks, and Mackenzie Hammond had 19 assists and three aces as the Lumberjacks (7-14) won their third straight match — all in five sets. St. Maries returns to action on Thursday, hosting Orofino.
For the Panthers (10-5), Julia Haag and Jaclyn Paterson had 10 kills each, Megan MacKinney had 22 assists, Taylor Peterson had 28 digs and Emma Averill had 10 digs.
“It was a competitive nonconference match ... hopefully it will get us ready for Thursday’s match against Priest River,” Charter coach Cynthia Beyer said.
Lake City d. Sandpoint
COEUR d’ALENE — Janae Rayborn and Kate DuCoeur had 10 kills each as the Timberwolves swept visiting Sandpoint.
“Tonight was senior night. We honored our seniors for all their contributions to our program, then picked up a nice, quick win,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “Hopefully we saved a little energy for (Tuesday) night against Coeur d’Alene.”
Nellie Reese had 20 assists and four aces, Ella Hosfeld had eight assists and three aces, and Jaya Miller had 11 digs for Lake City (18-10, 5-0 5A Inland Empire League), which visits Coeur d’Alene tonight in its final league game of the season.
