Fun runs support, celebrate KEA

| August 6, 2022 1:00 AM

COEUR d'ALENE — People have a chance to exercise and learn about North Idaho's environment during a trio of upcoming fun runs.

"Runs for a Cause" are scheduled 6 p.m. Aug. 11, 25 and Sept. 8 at the Gathering Place at North Idaho College.

Participants can join either a 5K or a one-mile family run/walk.

Proceeds will benefit the Kootenai Environmental Alliance, which looks after the health of Lake Coeur d'Alene and is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The events will incorporate education about protecting the lake and ways people can do their part, said organizer Cynthia Rozyla, past president of the North Idaho Sports Commission.

She said they hope to help people stay active while focusing on the efforts of KEA.

"The ask we are making is for everyone to be aware of how they can protect our lake," she wrote.

Cost is $25. Register online at runsignup.com or register onsite on race day.
