PREP ROUNDUP: Vikings pitch a pair of shutouts

• SOFTBALL

COEUR d’ALENE — Jenna Davenport allowed one hit, a single with one out in the second inning, striking out four in the first game for Coeur d’Alene, which swept Sandpoint 16-0 and 16-0 in Inland Empire League play at Larry Schwenke Field on Wednesday.

Coeur d’Alene (12-4, 10-2 IEL) moves into a tie with Lewiston (10-6, 10-2) for the league lead, with the teams scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday at Airport Park in Lewiston starting at noon.

Molly Nelson drove in three runs, including a two–run inside the park home run, in the first game for Coeur d’Alene.

In the nightcap, Kyndal Bridge hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth for the Vikings.

Sandpoint is 3-17, 0-12.
